A final year student of The University of Benin, simply identified as Desmond and popularly referred to as Mayor has been reportedly shot dead.
Desmond, a student of the department of Public Administration was reportedly shot dead by unknown assailants in the Hall 3 students hostel.
The deceased was a chief in the Kegites Social Club.
A trending video showed the victim lying lifelessly on the ground, covered in a pool of blood.
His body is said to have been deposited at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) mortuary University authorities are yet to react to the incident.
