The Federal Government is set to publicly reveal identity individuals and networks bankrolling terrorism in Nigeria, according to Presidential Adviser Daniel Bwala.

Speaking during a Television Continental interview on Sunday, Bwala stated the Tinubu administration is implementing “far-reaching decisions” on national security that will soon become evident.

He emphasized intensified efforts to counter terrorism, promising imminent exposure of those financing and enabling violent extremism.

“The government is making decisive interventions. In the coming days, Nigerians will know who the terrorists are and those funding them,” Bwala declared.

He described terrorism as a borderless global menace, stressing that international collaboration is critical. World powers, he noted, increasingly recognize the need to support Nigeria as extremist groups seek to expand operations into the region.

“Since 9/11, terrorism has been a global security issue. Any nation where terrorists operate becomes a concern to the world.

This is why international partners must continue to cooperate with Nigeria to dismantle these networks,” Bwala explained.

He highlighted a geographical shift in extremist activities from parts of the Middle East toward the Sahel, creating new instability hotspots that demand stronger regional and international coordination.

This development follows President Bola Tinubu’s recent rejection of private military and security contractors in African conflict zones. At the 7th AU–EU Summit in Luanda, Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, argued that such actors undermine sovereignty and complicate counter-terrorism efforts.

“We stand resolutely against the use of private military and security companies in African conflicts, as their presence often complicates resolution efforts and undermines state sovereignty,” Tinubu stated.

He advocated for African-led, state-driven responses to security challenges, aligning with Nigeria’s longstanding approach within ECOWAS and the AU frameworks.

Tinubu also cautioned that the retreat from multilateralism has worsened global security fragility, acknowledging the EU as one of the few platforms still engaging Africa on a “continent-to-continent basis.”
