The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Abuja Operations Office (AOO), on Tuesday received a batch of Nigerian returnees from Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, as part of the Federal Government’s commitment to the safe and dignified return of Nigerians stranded abroad.
The returnees arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, aboard Air Côte d’Ivoire Flight HF 806 at approximately 7:10 p.m. local time.
On arrival, officials of the NEMA Abuja Operations Office led by Head of Operations Pharm zakari Abubakar, in collaboration with relevant government agencies, carried out the registration and profiling of the returnees to facilitate their orderly reception and ensure the provision of immediate humanitarian assistance.
The reception exercise was led by the Honourable Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, , alongside officials of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Commission for Migrants, Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), the Port Health Services, and other critical stakeholders.
The agencies worked collaboratively to conduct identity verification, health screening, documentation, and other essential reception procedures.
The coordinated operation reflects the Federal Government’s unwavering commitment to protecting the welfare of Nigerian citizens abroad by ensuring their safe, dignified, and humane reintegration into the country while providing the necessary support services upon arrival.
