The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Zubairu Dada has inaugurated the Nigerians in Diaspora Data Mapping Portal.

Zubairu Dada while speaking during the inauguration of the portal in Abuja, explained that the essence of developing the data base for Nigerians in Diaspora was for active pursuance of the mandate of the Commission as enshrined in the 2017 NiDCOM establishment act.

He said the portal was intended to further facilitate the participation of Nigerians in Diaspora in the development of Nigeria through the utilisation of both human capital and material resources.

He therefore commended the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NiDCOM especially its Chief Executive Officer, Abike Dabiri-Erewa for achieving the feat in such a record time.

The Minister also appealed to Nigerians in Diaspora to register and be counted as bonafide members of Nigerian community in Diaspora.

Earlier, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NiDCOM Hon Abike Dabiri-Erewa said the portal was aimed at getting the accurate data and creating a reliable profile of all Nigerians in Diaspora. She said data of Nigerians from twenty countries across the world were targeted at the beginning of the exercise.

Hon. Dabiri-Erewa commended the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Zubairu Dada for always willing to support the activities of the Commission.

There were goodwill messages from the representatives of the development partners such as the European Union, World Bank, IOM, ICMPD as well as some Nigerians in Diaspora.

Highpoint of the event was the formal inauguration of the portal by the Honourable Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Zubairu Dada.
