The Federal Government has described as fake viral press release claiming the ongoing Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board, CDCFIB, recruitment exercise has been postponed until after the 2027 general election.
The dismissal was contained in a statement on Wednesday, August 13, 2026, signed by Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Interior, Dr Magdalene Ajani.
The statement cited the document titled “CDCFIB Recruitment Update” dated August 11, 2026, and falsely attributed to the Minister, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
According to the ministry, the purported statement, which cited funding constraints as the reason for the alleged postponement, did not originate from the ministry, the minister’s office or the CDCFIB.
“The Ministry wishes to state unequivocally that this press release is fake, unauthorised, and fraudulent,” the statement said.
“The Minister did not sign or issue this statement,” it added.
The ministry further clarified that no decision had been taken to suspend or defer the recruitment exercise until after the 2027 general election.
“No decision has been made to defer the recruitment exercise until after the 2027 general election,” it said.
It stressed that the recruitment process remains ongoing, urging applicants and members of the public not to rely on unverified information circulating online
“It urged members of the public and applicants to disregard the fake document and rely only on information published through the Ministry’s and CDCFIB’s verified platforms, including the official recruitment portal: cdcfib.gov.ng.”
