The Nigerian government has unveiled an improved National Identity Management Commission multipurpose card for social interventions and a transparent financial payment system.
The Director General of NIMC, Abisoye Coker-Odusote, made this known in a press briefing in Abuja on Friday.
Explaining the details of the improved NIMC card, Coker-Odusote said the card goes beyond identity to include all government services and digital financial transactions.
According to her, the improved card will bridge the divide between the government and the people.
“With the multipurpose card, Nigerians can access government services without having a godfather or mother,” she stated.
She revealed that it would be launched in a couple of days.
Coker-Odusote, the improved card, would come up on stream in partnership with Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System, NIBSS’s subsidiary AgriGO, a domestic card provider.
NIMC said over 115 million Nigerians have been enrolled in its NIN database.
