Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose and Shehu Sani, former Kaduna Central Senator, have reacted to the increase in fuel price from 143.80 to N151.56.
The Pipelines and Product Marketing Company (PPMC) had in a circular to marketers on Wednesday announced the increment which takes immediate effect.
The memo read, “Please be informed that a new product price adjustment has been effected on our payment platform.
“To this end, the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) is now one hundred and fifty-one naira, fifty-six kobo (N151.56k) per litre.
“This takes effect from September 2, 2020.”
Reacting to the development, Fayose in a tweet via his verified Twitter account said the increment was unnecessary as other countries are adopting measures to cushion the effects of COVID-19 on their citizens.

He tweeted, “Petrol is now N151.56. The increment was made when other countries are adopting measures to reduce the effects of COVID-19 lock down on their citizens.
“Just in case those who led the Save Nigeria protests across Nigeria during PDP govt of Jonathan are not aware. I warned.”
On his part, Sani wrote: “What’s going up; Foreign loans, Electricity tariff, Fuel pump price, Cost of Data, Cost of Rice, VATs, Tuition fees, Cost of living; What’s going down; Value of the Naira, Foreign reserve.”
