The Federal Government, through the Ministry of Education, on Tuesday, announced the ban on 18 foreign universities in Nigeria.
This followed the corrupt practices in Benin, Togo Universities which was exposed by a Nigerian undercover reporter
Recall that the federal government had earlier announced the suspension of evaluation and accreditation of degree certificates from the Republic of Benin and Togo amid the scandal.
The Nigerian government also warned Nigerians to avoid enrolling in such institutions.
It was learned that the undercover reporter bagged a degree from Cotonou University within six weeks and participated in the mandatory one-year scheme organized by the National Youth Service Corps.
The report has forced the Nigerian government in conjunction with National Universities Commission to take further actions by banning 18 foreign universities from the list of approved institutions operating in the country.
