Ex-Chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team, Dr Abdulrasheed Maina, was rushed to a private hospital in Abuja on Tuesday evening after he slumped while attempting to access his office premises.
According to a statement issued by his media assistant, Barr Emmanuel Umahi Ekwe, the incident occurred on Tuesday.
Maina reportedly lost his balance due to complications arising from an untreated knee injury, causing him to fall and hit his head on a staircase.
The statement said medical personnel at the scene promptly administered first aid before he was transported to a private hospital in the Federal Capital Territory for urgent medical attention.
He is under close medical observation.
The statement further disclosed that following a preliminary medical assessment, one of the attending doctors advised that arrangements for an air ambulance medical evacuation should be considered if his condition did not stabilise within a short period.
Maina’s family and medical team are said to be closely monitoring his condition.
The family has appealed to members of the public to keep him in their prayers and to respect their privacy during this critical period.
“Further updates are expected as developments unfold,” the statement added.
