The Ondo State Security Agency codenamed ‘Operation Amotekun’, on Monday, said it has nabbed no fewer than six suspected hoodlums, who allegedly partook in the looting, arson and wanton destruction of properties across the state in the aftermath of #EndSARS protests.

It would be recalled that the #EndSARS protest was hijacked by thugs who torched two Police Stations, the National Correctional Service Centre in Okitipupa, a High Court building and some other buildings which included the state Secretariats of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and that of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akure, the state capital.

The Corps Head of Intelligence; Adebayo Ayeni; stated that the suspects were arrested in various parts of the state.

Speaking further, the Commandant of the Security Agency in the state, Adetunji Adeleye, said the suspects were arrested with exhibits linking them with the looting, arson and attacks that happened in the state.

Adeleye said the suspects have confessed to their roles in various crimes perpetrated when hoodlums hijacked #EndSARS protest in the state.

The Commandant listed items recovered from the suspects to include police cardigan, police boots, motorcycles, rifle and other dangerous weapons.

He said, “The items recovered from the suspects suggested that they (suspects) participated in the burning of police stations in the state.”

Adeleye said the suspects, would be handed over to the relevant security agency for further investigation and prosecution, adding that efforts are ongoing to arrest other fleeing looters and arsonists in the state.
