Kayode Olubunmi Ojo, a 2026 All Progressives Congress, APC governorship aspirant in Ekiti State, has alleged that his supporters have been facing unjust arrests, intimidation, unlawful detention, and denial of entitlements.

The allegations come amid heightened tensions within Ekiti APC ahead of the 20 June governorship election.

In a statement on Wednesday, the APC aspirant alleged that his supporters are being targeted by security agencies and the state government.

He identified some of the supporters being harassed as Bayo Aderiye from Ado Ekiti; Taiwo Fabiyi from Emure Ekiti; Obebe Oluwafemi Ayekooto from Otun Ekiti; Olugbenga Kayejo from Ikere Ekiti and members of the APC Ward Executive in Ikoro Ekiti.

According to Mr Ojo one Akogun Abayomi, also known as Lustay was allegedly detained secretly on 1 January, without a warrant, stating that the victim was denied access to legal counsel, family, and medication.

He accused some police officers of abusing their power for political gains.

According to him, some former political office holders perceived to be his supporters, including Bamidele Gbayigi, Omotehinse Abraham, Adelodun Bosede and Ogunjobi Busayo, among others, were being denied their legitimate allowances.

Mr Ojo and another aspirant were reportedly disqualified from the party’s primary, clearing incumbent Governor Biodun Oyebanji as the consensus candidate.

Supporters of disqualified aspirants, including Mr Ojo, have previously raised concerns over intimidation and threats during internal party arrangements, with some calling for intervention by national party leadership.
