An Ado-Ekiti Magistrate Court has remanded the African Democratic Congress (ADC) House of Assembly candidate for Ado Constituency 1, Ayodele Babatola, at the Ado-Ekiti Correctional Centre in Ekiti State over an alleged rape case currently under investigation.
The remand followed allegations brought against the politician by a 30-year-old woman who accused him of sexual assault.
Documents made available to journalists showed that the matter was earlier referred by the Divisional Police Officer, Oke-Ila Division, Ado-Ekiti for medical examination and treatment at the Police Cottage Hospital, Okesa.
According to the medical report dated May 25, 2026, the complainant alleged that she was sexually assaulted by a male acquaintance around 8pm
The report stated that the woman later presented herself at the police station and hospital, where medical personnel carried out examinations and commenced post-assault medical procedures.
Although the report noted that no visible bruises or genital injuries were observed during examination, the case was documented as a “possible sexual assault,” while emergency treatment, HIV prophylaxis, and other medical interventions were reportedly administered.
Laboratory investigations, including HIV screening, Hepatitis B test, pregnancy test, and screening for sexually transmitted infections were also said to have been conducted
Sources familiar with the matter disclosed that the defendant was arraigned before the court on Tuesday and subsequently remanded pending further proceedings in the case.
