Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has congratulated the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir festival.

In a goodwill message signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Yinka Oyebode, the Governor described Eid-el-Kabir as a sacred festival of sacrifice, faith, and joy for the Muslim faithful.

Governor Oyebanji congratulated Muslims in Ekiti State and across Nigeria for witnessing another Eid-el-Kabir, emphasizing that sacrifice remains a fundamental requirement for attaining success, victory, fulfillment, and lasting joy.

He noted that this principle is exemplified in the story of Prophet Ibrahim’s obedience to the command of Allah to sacrifice his son, Ishmael, with a ram ultimately offered in his stead.

The Governor urged Muslims to imbibe the core lesson of Eid-el-Kabir, which is total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, noting that such devotion comes with immense spiritual rewards.

He also underscored the importance of love, brotherhood, and peaceful coexistence among adherents of all religions, stressing the need for unity and collective effort in the ongoing task of developing Ekiti State. He described the Muslim community as a vital partner in the shared vision of taking the state to greater heights of progress and prosperity.

While appreciating the Muslim Ummah in the state for their continued support and prayers for his administration and that of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Oyebanji expressed optimism that a brighter and more glorious future lies ahead.

He further enjoined Muslims to celebrate the festival in moderation and to extend love and generosity to their neighbours, particularly the less privileged, in line with the teachings of the Holy Qur’an.

He also urged them to pray for peace to reign before, during and after the forth coming governorship election in the state, assuring that his government would continue to do everything to ensure peaceful coexistence amongst the citizens, as well as security of lives and properties.

“We wish the Muslim Ummah in our dear state and across Nigeria a joyous Sallah celebration and pray that Allah accepts our sacrifices as acts of Ibadah,” the statement added.
