The Edo State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Tega Best, for allegedly staging his own kidnap.
According to Daily Trust, the incident happened in Okhue community, Esan South East Local Government Area of the state.
It was gathered that after the alleged kidnapping, his accomplices called his family members and demanded an undisclosed amount for his freedom.
The police were said to have been informed of the incident, leading to the arrest of the suspect.
During investigation, it was discovered that the suspect faked his own kidnap with the intention of collecting money from his parents.
Spokesperson of the command, CSP Moses Yamu, who confirmed the incident said the suspect was in police custody and would be charged to court as soon as the investigation was completed.
