A valedictory court session has been held in honour of the retiring Chief Judge of Ebonyi State, Justice Anslem Nwigwe.

The court session held at the Justice Aloy Nwankwo Chambers, High Court Complex Abakaliki.

Addressing the Court in-session, the Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi congratulated the retiring Chief Judge, for serving the State in honesty and announced the renaming of the Judiciary Clinic after the retiring Chief Judge.

The Governor according to his spokesman, Francis Nwaze AEbonyi commended the retiring CJ for the reforms he brought into the Judicial System.

“Let me commend you very highly, though your stay as the Chief Judge in the State is short but it is quite eventful, I thank you for the reforms you initiated in the Judiciary System and for making the welfare of the Judges, the Magistrate and the Judiciary Workers as a mark of your duty”

The State Chief Executive commended the retiring CJ for his humility and for always identifying with the Government.

The Governor appealed to Justice Nwigwe to use his position as a Senior citizen to bring an end to the carnages in Effium and Ezza Effium.

He encouraged the incoming Chief Judge, Justice Elvis Ngene to take a leaf from the pragmatic leadership style of the retiring Chief Judge and also announced plans to relocate the Judiciary Complex to the Ochoudo Centenary City before the end of his administration.

In a valedictory address, the retiring Chief Judge, Justice Anslem Nwigwe thanked Governor David Nweze Umahi for his support to his administration and members of the Bar, Bench and all Judiciary Staff for the good working relationship.

He appealled to the Governor to continue to support his successor to ensure that the Judiciary continues to function as the bastion of hope to the common man.

“I appreciate your Excellency for all the cooperation I received from you throughout my tenure in Office as the Chief Judge of Ebonyi State. You have shown utmost good faith in the Ebonyi State Judiciary project and we are sincerely grateful to you”

Justice Nwigwe paid glowing tributes to the departed Supreme Court Judge, Justice Sylvester Nwali Ngwuta for his trailblazing contributions to the course of justice in Nigeria.

Earlier, the Honourable Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Chief Cletus Ofoke commended the retiring Chief Judge for his meritorious service to the State and wished him well in his future endeavours.

“Let me say that your Lordship came, saw and conquered. It is therefore to me a great feat and achievements for a Judge to serve his tenure in the difficult Office of a great Judge and retire gracefully at the constitutionally prescribed age of 65 years”

The Chairman, South East Body of Judges, Justice Ngozi Emeghelu congratulated Justice Nwigwe for retiring unblemished and appreciated the Governor for collaborating with the Judiciary to move the arm of Government forward.
