Commercial drivers, Forest guards, farmers and traders, in Ondo State has declared their support for Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s ultimatum to herdsmen to vacate forest reserves in the state within seven days.
The different associations on Thursday carried placards in solidarity with the Governor while urging him not to back down on his directive to the herdsmen.
The Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Comrade Jacob Adejo, who was part of the group said commercial drivers were no longer safe in the state.
Adejo said his members need protection as herders attacked them with impunity as well as kidnapped them before now.

Akeredolu had on Tuesday directed herdsmen to vacate forest reserves in the state noting that the steps were taken in order to address the root cause of kidnapping, in particular, and other nefarious activities detailed and documented in security reports, the press and debriefings from victims of kidnap cases in the state.
