The Minister of Labour and Employment, Muhammad Dingyadi, has said the feud between Dangote Refinery and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, PENGASSAN, must be resolved for the good of all parties, including Nigerians, the economy, workers and employers.
He disclosed this in his remarks at the meeting between Dangote Refinery, PENGASSAN and other relevant stakeholders in the country’s oil and gas sector.
Dingyadi, who chaired the session, emphasised the importance of both the Union and Dangote Refinery to Nigeria.
“We want to resolve these issues amicably, for the good of everybody, for the good of our economy, for the good of the security of our nation, and for the good of our workers, and for the good of our employers as well,” he said.
The meeting, originally scheduled for 2:30 pm on Monday, did not commence until around 4 pm.
Meanwhile,Dangote Refinery on Monday secured an interim court order restraining PENGASSAN from disrupting its operations.
The meeting comes after PENGASSAN, at the weekend, directed its members to cut off gas and crude supply to Dangote Refinery until the 650,000-barrel-per-day plant recalls workers allegedly dismissed for voluntarily belonging to the union.
