The Delta State College of Nursing Sciences, Agbor, has withdrawn the query issued to one of its student, Osatohemwen Edobor following the intervention of the State government.

The state’s Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme, in a video statement confirmed the withdrawal of the disciplinary query, stressing that the government is committed to upholding the rights of students in health-related programs and ensuring a conducive learning environment.

“The Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme, has directed the immediate withdrawal of the query issued to Nursing Student Osato Edobor by the Provost of the School of Nursing Sciences, Agbor,” the ministry said in a public notice.

The query, dated March 27, 2025, and signed by the provost, Evbodaghe Rita Ogonne, had accused Edobor, of circulating an AI manipulated song which allegedly ridiculed the president’s wife, and was considered a “malicious act” and a punishable offence in the Student Handbook.

The college had given Edobor 24 hours to respond to the query, which states:

“It has come to the notice of the school authority that you, Student Nurse Osato Edobor… was found to be engage in malicious act of recording/singing and posting unofficial response to song during the arrival of the First Lady.”

A follow-up letter signed by the Provost, Evbodaghe Rita Ogonne and written to Edobor on Friday reads:

“The Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr Joseph Onojaeme, in his magnanimity, has directed the school authority to withdraw the query issued to you on the 27th March, 2025.

“You are therefore to return the query letter through the student affairs officer to the office of the provost. The school authority regrets any inconvenience this must have caused the state.”
