Imo State Governor ,Hope Uzodimma has directed all Government workers to stay at home effect from Monday, 21st December, 2020 till further notice, except for permanent secretaries and political appointees.
The Governor announced this in a statewide broadcast on the resurgence of COVID19 on Sunday adding that the state secretariat which is the major crowd puller will remain closed to the public until further notice.
The Governor further made the wearing of Facemasks in public absolutely compulsory noting that Mobile courts have been deployed all over the state and will try any person caught without their facemasks.

Uzodimma who lament the spike in COVID19 infection across the country said the imminent danger posed by human traffic surge especially during this season màke immediate and drastic steps but cogent and urgent.
He however announced the strict enforcement of All Covid-19 safety protocols in public places like places of worship, market places, eateries, fun places saying that failure to comply with these protocols will be dealt with in accordance with the law and such places risk a shut down.
Also, the Governor banned social gatherings, above 100 people, the during the Christmas.
Attendees of such events, must observe physical distancing and all the Covid-19 safety protocols including handwashing and use of alcohol based sanitizers.
