Police Officers attached to the Yaba Police Station in Ondo Town, have been directed to go for compulsory COVID-19 tests.
The Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Undie Adie gave this directive to all Police officers in the station following the news that three members of the Division had tested positive to the virus.
According to the Police boss, the Officers have also been isolated pending the result of their tests.
He said:, ” I have ordered them to come to Akure for tests. We have to be careful and prevent what may lead to pandemic within the Police Command.”
Undie also ordered that they should come with their relations and those they know have interacted with them in recent time.
It would be recalled that three Officers attached to the Yaba Police Station on Monday tested positive to COVID-19.
The affected Police Officers were said to have contracted the disease from a senior female colleague who allegedly refused to go for test despite showing symptoms.
It was reliably gathered that the policemen have been admitted at the State Infectious Disease Hospital in Akure.
Sources said the female senior police officer decided to take local herbs for treatment rather than going for a test to know her COVID-19 status.
She was however said to have been exposed by a relative who posted on a WhatsApp platform that her sister has been taking herbs at home to treat herself rather than her going to the hospital.
