A High Court in Port Harcourt has struck out a consolidated suit filed by two sets of aggrieved members of All Progressives Congress, APC members in Rivers against the party and its former Caretaker committee Chairman in the State, Isaac Ogbobula.

Justice Charles Wali while delivering the judgement described the suit as ‘statute-barred’ and a ‘mere academic exercise’.

The Judge also who granted all the prayers of APC cited lack of proof of service as one of the grounds for striking out the suits, adding that the matters involved are pre- election issues and the court lacks the jurisdiction to entertain them.

The aggrieved party members had asked the court for an interlocutory injunction against against the conduct of Congresses by the Rivers state chapter of APC.

They told the court that they were denied access to the party’s nomination forms that would had allowed them to participate in the congresses even when they had paid for them.

In his swift reaction to the Court judgement,APC Spokesman in Rivers, Chris Finebone, advised party members to be “magnanimous in victory”.

He also advised all aggrieved APC members to avail themselves of Dr Dawari George’s Peace and Reconciliation Committee to genuinely ventilate their grievances.
