A Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has restrained the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the party’s chieftain, Dan Orbih, in his capacity as National Vice-Chairman, South-South, from conducting the South-South Zonal Congress in Calabar, Cross River State, or anywhere else in Nigeria on 22 February 2025, or any other State.

The court, presided over by Justice G.V. Obomanu, issued the order on Friday in a suit filed by Tony Uchechukwu Ehogu and Field Nkor, both candidates for the scheduled South-South Congress, against PDP and Orbih.

The judge further directed all parties to maintain the status quo as of 20 February 2025, pending the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice for an interlocutory injunction.

Additionally, the court granted the claimants permission to serve the originating processes and other subsequent documents on the defendants by substituted means, specifically by pasting them at the gate of the PDP South-South Zonal Headquarters.

Justice Obomanu adjourned the case to 28 February 2025 for the hearing of the Motion on Notice.
