Justice Nkeonye Maha order the remand of Adamu, but directed the authorities at Agodi Correctional Facility to allow the defendant to be treated at the prison’s clinic.

She said that if the prison’s clinic is unable to treat him, Adamu should be taken to the University College Hospital (UCH) as a government patient.

The judge subsequently adjourned the case till July 25 for hearing

Earlier, the defence counsel, Mr Bukola Omotoso, had informed the court that his client’s health had significantly deteriorated while in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).

The prosecuting counsel, Mr T.A. Nurudeen told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Dec. 15, 2024, in Awe, Afijio Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Nurudeen said that Adamu, an indigene of Ilorin South, Ilorin, Kwara State, was a member of the terror syndicate kidnapping people around Awe in Afijio area.

He said that the defendant and his terror gang kidnapped one Aminu Mohammed for the purpose of collecting ransom.

Nurudeen stated that the offences contravened the provisions of sections 24A and 30A of the Terrorism Prohibition and Prevention Act 2022.
