Commercial bus drivers plying the Ikorodu Road on Monday, left commuters stranded as they protest over what they called extortion by men of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation and Special Offences Unit (Task Force) and Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).
The drivers parked their buses and ensured full compliance of the service withdrawal even as commuters had no other choice than to trek to their various destinations.
Many commuters heading to Jibowu, Maryland, Ikeja, axis had to trek long distances in the early hours of Monday.
A minibus driver told newsmen they were protesting daily seizure of their buses and extortion by officials of the agencies over frivolous traffic rules violation.
