Canadian authorities have issued a wanted notice for a 38-year-old Nigerian national, identified as Oghenemaro Dave Ejerua, following allegations of repeated assaults on vulnerable adults at a group home in Toronto.
The Toronto Police Service (TPS) confirmed in a statement released on December 31, 2025, that officers were alerted to an alleged assault in the Sibley Avenue and Dentonia Park Avenue area of the city.
Subsequent investigations reportedly linked the incident to Ejerua, who was employed as a caregiver at the group home where the alleged offences took place.
According to police findings, Ejerua is accused of committing multiple assaults between November 1 and November 30, 2025.
As a result, he is now wanted on seven counts of assault. While authorities did not disclose the exact number of victims involved or the extent of their injuries, investigators emphasised that the alleged victims are vulnerable adults, a classification that has heightened public concern and urgency surrounding the case.
Police sources said the suspect allegedly abused his position of trust while working at the care facility, prompting renewed scrutiny over the safety and monitoring of caregivers working with at-risk populations.
The case has also sparked conversations about safeguarding standards within group homes and the responsibility of institutions to protect residents from harm.
Ejerua is described as approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, of medium build, with black curly hair and black facial hair.
Authorities believe he may still be within Canada, but have not ruled out the possibility that he could attempt to leave the jurisdiction.
The Toronto Police Service has appealed to members of the public to assist in locating the suspect, stressing that community cooperation is crucial to preventing further harm.
Law enforcement officials urged anyone who sees Ejerua or has information regarding his whereabouts to contact the police immediately.
Officials also cautioned the public not to approach the suspect, advising instead that any sightings be reported directly to authorities.
