A suspected cable vandal, Lekan Adegbola, 42, has been arrested and charged before a Lagos Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing armoured cable valued N4m at Eko Atlantic City project, Victoria Island Lagos.

Nemesis caught up with Adegbola on 8 January, 2022 when he allegedly sneaked into the Eko Atlantic City project site at midnight to steal cable valued N4m.

According to the police, luck, however, ran out against the defendant when the security men on duty caught him as he made to escape with the stolen cable.

Police alleged that following the development, the security men sent a distress call to the Divisional Police Officer, DPO in charge of Bar beach division, Victoria Island, Lagos, who drafted his men to the scene to arrest the defendant.

Adegbola was charged before the Tinubu Magistrate’s Court on a three count charge of stealing.

Police Counsel, Ajaga Agboko informed the court that the defendant committed the offences at midnight at Eko Atlantic City project site, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Agboko told the court that the defendant sneaked into the Eko Atlantic City project site to steal amour cable valued N4m before he was caught by the vigilant security men on duty.

He said the offences, the defendant committed were punishable under section 411, 287 (7) and 328 of the criminal court of Lagos State 2015.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges and Magistrate A. Alogba granted him N1, 000, 000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

Alogba adjourned the case till 27 January, 2022 for mention and ordered that the defendant be kept at the Ikoyi Correctional Facility till he perfected the bail conditions.
