Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has announced that the Muna Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Maiduguri will be shut down within the next two weeks.
The announcement was made on Monday during a dawn visit by the governor to the camp, which currently shelters around 10,000 displaced persons.
Muna was once one of the largest IDP camps in the state, established at the peak of the humanitarian crisis caused by the Boko Haram insurgency.
Governor Zulum’s visit and declaration were highlighted in a post on Monday by security analyst Zagazola Makama via his official X handle.
“Muna camp to be closed in two weeks,” he said.
The governor assured support for displaced persons as part of the resettlement plan.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to restoring dignity and livelihood to the displaced population.
