The attack on Saturday claimed 18 lives and left many others injured.

“We are here on behalf of Governor Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum to sympathise with the victims and see firsthand the treatment they are receiving,” Alhaji Usman Kadafur told newsmen during a hospital visit.

“We urge the people to accept this as an act of God and not lose hope in the emerging peace in the state.”

The Acting Governor announced that a delegation would be sent to Gwoza, the scene of the incident, to sympathise with the victims. “Tomorrow (Monday), we are proceeding to Gwoza to sympathise with the victims,” he said.

Kadafur further revealed that the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) had evacuated and transported some victims from Gwoza to Maiduguri for urgent medical attention.

He announced that the state government has donated five million naira to support the victims receiving treatment at the State Specialist Hospital.

The acting governor was accompanied during the visit by Hon. Ahmed Usman Jaha, a Member representing Gwoza, Chibok, and Damboa federal constituencies; Bukar Tijjani (Secretary to the State Government); Members of the State Executive Council; Director-General of SEMA; and other dignitaries.
