The Kogi State Police Command has identified a female student whose body was discovered along the Lokoja-Abuja Highway as a final-year student of the Federal University, Lokoja.

The deceased, named as Sarah Idoko, was found dead on Saturday night near the Crusher area along the Felele axis of Lokoja. Authorities believe she was dumped there by unidentified assailants.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing a vehicle stop briefly near the location around 8 p.m. before speeding away. Passers-by later discovered the body by the roadside and alerted security officials.

An identity card found at the scene initially suggested the deceased was a student of Kogi State Polytechnic, but police later confirmed that Sarah Idoko was enrolled at the Federal University Lokoja.

The Commissioner of Police in Kogi State, Naziru Kankarofi, stated that investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding her death and to track down those responsible.

He assured the public that the outcome of the investigation would be made known in due course.

Meanwhile, the Association of Nigeria Female Students, Kogi State Chapter, has condemned the killing, describing it as cruel and unacceptable.

The group called on security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation and urged authorities to strengthen security around campuses and student communities.
