The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, has announced a power outage in parts of Kogi, Edo and Ondo States due to annual maintenance at the 330/132kV Ajaokuta Substation.

TCN, in a statement on Monday, said the exercise will prevent the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC, and Benin Electricity Distribution Company, BEDC, from supplying electricity to customers in affected areas.

According to the company, the maintenance is to enable its crew to carry out preventive works on the 162MVA, 330/132kV power transformer, associated switchgear and ancillary equipment at the substation.

Areas to be affected in Kogi include Ekirin, Omuo, Ogala, Magongo, Okene Town, Ayere, Kabba and environs.

In Ondo, Akoko, Ikare, Arigidi, Ikare Town, Lampese, Igara and Oka will be affected.

Parts of Edo to be affected include Ibillo, Okpella Town, Ososo, Uluoke, Iyora, Apana, Okpekpe, as well as industrial customers such as BUA Cement Company, West African Fertilizer Company, Dibeks Milling Company, Edestein Company and Freedom Group Company.

TCN said the affected areas will be without power supply on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.

“The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, hereby informs the public that annual preventive maintenance has been scheduled at its 330/132kV Ajaokuta Transmission Substation on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, from 9am to 4pm,” the statement said.
