The German Embassy in Nigeria has warned Nigerians seeking visas to rely only on official channels, saying misinformation from self-styled agents can lead to confusion, extra costs and possible fraud.*
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the embassy urged prospective applicants to verify all visa-related information directly with the mission instead of depending on third-party sources.
It noted that many claims circulated by visa agents are often inaccurate and advised the public to seek clarification from its official platforms on requirements and procedures.
The mission also invited members of the public to share information received from agents, saying it would address common misconceptions in future updates.
Reiterating its position, the embassy stressed that it has no affiliation or partnership with any visa agent and does not authorise third parties to provide visa services on its behalf.
According to the mission, all information regarding visa applications is available free of charge through its official communication channels.
The warning comes amid growing concerns over misleading information about visa processes, with the embassy urging applicants to remain vigilant and avoid falling victim to scams.
