Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State on Saturday flagged off the N1.5 billion youths and women empowerment planned to be conducted across the state as part of 2021 Democracy day celebration.

The empowerment program tagged: “Kaura Economic Empowerment Programme (KEEP) according to the governor was part of the desire of his administration to empower citizens regardless of their status for economic development.

Speaking at the official flag-off of the empowerment programme in Zaki and Gamawa Local Government Areas of the state, the governor called on the beneficiaries to ensure proper utilisation of the items by engaging in productive activities to enable them to become self reliant.

According to him, the “Kaura Economic Empowerment Programme (KEEP) scheme is an initiative of his administration designed to empower youths and women in order to improve their economic activities.

The governor said the state government will continue to empower youths and women with incentives in addition to providing them with job opportunities so as to alleviate poverty and unemployment in the society.

“These items included vehicles , motorcycles, sewing and grinding machines and many more which were provided for distribution to youths and women.”

“I decided to use the Democracy Day celebration, which is a special day in Nigeria, to kick-start the distribution of the economic strengthening items in the state in fulfillment of my campaign promises.”

Governor Bala Mohammed who pointed out that, his administration has done so much in the area of infrastructure development, said it will now focus on improving the lives of the citizens through various empowerment programes.

In their separate remarks, the state first lady, Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed and the State PDP Chairman, Hamza Koshe Akuyam applauded the governor for initiating the empowerment program beneficial to women and youths, describing it as a timely gesture.
