Gunmen suspected to be bandits have killed one person and abducted about nine others in Sokoto Community.
The attack was said to have taken place in Wababe, Dange-shuni local government area during a midnight downpour on Tuesday.
The bandit were believed to have escaped from the military onslaught ongoing in neighboring Zamfara State.
The attack, village sources disclose that the operation lasted for over two hours, during which residents fled into the bushes.
Police spokesperson in the State, ASP Sanusi Abubakar, confirmed the attack to newsmen.
“We got a report from the DPO who said that security operatives in the local government mobilised immediately to engage the bandits,” Abubakar said.
“Unfortunately, on sensing our men going after them, the bandits started firing and in the process shot one person. They fled and abandoned their food items and patrol.” He said a manhunt for the assailants had been launched.
