Suspected bandits have launched a fresh attack on Girkau community in Kebbe Local Government Area of Sokoto State, killing five residents and abducting several others.
The attack occurred despite a security alert raised by the Sokoto State Police Command following intelligence reports of a planned attack in Kebbe LGA.
Crisis Reporter in the North-West, Bakastine, said in a post on Friday via his X handle that the attackers spent several hours inside Girkau community during the invasion, leaving residents with nowhere safe to seek shelter.
According to him, five residents were killed and four others injured in Girkau, while a large number of cattle were rustled.
Bakastine further reported that one person was killed in Dukura and another in Jabga, both in Girkau Ward. Two other people were injured during the attack.
He added that a vigilante was also abducted and his locally made gun taken by the attackers.
