At least 20 persons have been killed in fresh bandits attack on some communities in Sabon Birni local government area of Sokoto state.
Sabon Birni has been plagued by the activities of bandits in recent times.
It was gathered that the assailants attacked the village around 11 pm on Tuesday.
A former chairman of the Sabon Birni local government council, Idris Gobir, said the attackers killed about 20 persons.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Kamaluddeen Okunlola, confirmed the incident but said only eight people were killed by the attackers.
Okunlola said the gunmen attacked only two communities located at the fringe of the local government area.
He, however, assured that the police would get the attackers soon.
