Bandits on Saturday night attacked Mai Dabino village, Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State, leaving seven people dead and several others abducted.

The hoodlums, armed with sophisticated weapons, invaded the village around 10:00 pm and operated for about three hours, shooting sporadically and burning down houses, shops, and vehicles worth millions of Naira.

According to an eyewitness, “the bandits took away many women and children into a nearby forest. They burnt down several houses, shops, and vehicles, leaving many people homeless and destitute.” The eyewitness added that the attack was carried out with impunity, with the bandits seeming to have no fear of being apprehended.

The police have confirmed the incident, with the Police Spokesman in the state, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, stating that “investigation is currently ongoing, and further developments will be communicated in due course.” He added that the police are working tirelessly to ensure the safety of lives and properties in the state.

The attack is a stark reminder of the insecurity that has plagued Katsina State and other parts of the country.

The state government has promised to take measures to address the situation, but the attacks continue to occur with devastating effects on the communities.

“We are doing our best to ensure the security of lives and properties in the state, but we need the support of the people to achieve this goal,” said ASP Sadiq.

The victims of the attack are still reeling from the shock, with many left to pick up the pieces and start anew.

The attack has left a trail of destruction and despair in its wake, and it remains to be seen how the state government will respond to this latest incident.
