Immaculate Kondo, a 200-level undergraduate of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS), has reportedly been abducted by bandits in the state.

The student was said to be on a journey from Benue state to Sokoto.

The gunmen were said to have abducted Immaculate, a student of accounting, on Tuesday evening, alongside other passengers when the commercial vehicle conveying them to the state was intercepted by the gunmen.

It was gathered that only the driver and one passenger escaped; others were taken to an unknown location.

Oryiman Kondo, the victim’s brother, told reporters that the gunmen have demanded N1 million ransom to secure her sister’s release.

He said they threatened to kill the victims if the ransoms are not paid within three days.

“They were kidnapped on Tuesday evening and we didn’t know their whereabouts until this morning when she called with a particular number and told us that they have taken them to a place where they can have access to the network so that they can reach out to their relatives for the ransom that they demanded,” Kondo said.

“They demanded a huge amount, but as of this evening, we were able to beat the price down to N1 million. They gave us three days that if the deadline elapsed and the money is not forthcoming, they are going to take them away and they are not going to return them again”

A friend of the victim, who identified himself as Chukwu Raphael, said the incident has been reported to the police command.

When contacted, Sanusi Abubakar, command spokesperson, said he would verify the information and revert.
