Adeyinka Adeleke, a councilorship candidate in the upcoming LG polls in Ogun State has been shot dead by yet to be identified men in the Jide Jones area of Abeokuta South Local Government Area of Ogun State.
According to a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, the perpetrators arrived at the scene in an unregistered Toyota Corolla sport car and fled after committing the crime.
“A concerned citizen reported a shooting incident around 12:30 p.m.,” Odutola stated.
“The suspects, believed to be cultists, arrived in the vehicle armed with a pump-action shotgun and a pistol. They opened fire, killing the victim on the spot before escaping,” Odutola added.
The spokesperson also revealed that another individual, Adesanya Adeyinka, had requested the body for burial without following the necessary procedures, such as a doctor’s examination or autopsy.
The police have launched an investigation into the murder and assured the public that efforts are underway to apprehend the suspects.
