Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, driver of British-Nigerian boxing champion Anthony Joshua has revealed that the boxer had exchanged seats with one of his friends just moments before the crash occurred.
The fatal incident, which took place along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway near Makun, Ogun State, claimed the lives of two of Joshua’s close friends and team members, Sina Ghami and Latz Ayodele.
Kayode, 46, who is currently facing charges of causing death by dangerous driving, disclosed during initial police questioning that Joshua had been sitting in the front passenger seat before switching places with one of the victims shortly before the collision.
”Anthony Joshua was initially sitting in the front seat but was blocking my view so Latif had to swap seats with him,” he said.
This development adds further emotional weight to the already devastating event, highlighting just how narrowly the boxer escaped with his life.
The group was in Nigeria to celebrate the holidays, with the deceaseds arriving just days earlier.
While Anthony Joshua sustained minor injuries, the incident has sent shockwaves through the sports and entertainment world, sparking conversations about fate, road safety, and loss.
