Another 31 students out of the 63 remaining abducted students of Bethel Baptist school in Chikun Local Government area of Kaduna State have regained their freedom.
It was learnt that another tranch of N24 million was paid to release another batch of 31 pupils on friday.
The total amount collected so far by the criminal elements is now N74million after the initial N50million was paid.
The freed students have been reportedly handed over to their parents.
The kidnappers had on July 5 attacked the school and took away 121 students from their hostels.
The bandits released 28 of them on July 25, after a ransom was allegedly paid to the kidnappers.
On August 22, 15 more of the students were released by their captors.
The kidnappers who initially demanded N100m ransom reduced it to N60m after a series of negotiations. The police also claimed to have rescued two students in the Rijanna area along the Kaduna-Abuja highway.
A few days later, parents reportedly contributed money to buy foodstuffs for the abductors who demanded 30 bags of rice, 20 bags of beans and 10 kegs of palm oil.
After allegedly collecting N50m ransom, the bandits released 28 students on July 25 and promised to release the remaining 90 in batches. They also jerked up the ransom to N80m.
Last Saturday night, another 15 students were released and reunited with their parents amid mixed feelings of joy and sadness.
