The Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) of the Anambra State Police Commnd has arrested three suspects in two separate operations on June 19, recovering a locally made pistol, ammunition, drugs and other exhibits.
The Command spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga,in a statement on Saturday said two of the three suspects were arrested by VCRU operatives while on patrol along the Igbariam/Achalla Road.
“In the mid day of 19th June 2026 the Operatives of the Command’s VCRU, while on patrol along the Igbariam/Achalla Road, intercepted and arrested two male suspects identified as Williams Ndifon and David Missang, both aged 27 years. They were riding on a Daylong motorcycle at the time of their arrest.
“A thorough search conducted on the suspects led to the recovery of the following items: One locally made Beretta pistol, One Daylong motorcycle, One live ammunition, Six GSM phones, Two power banks, One sledgehammer, One chisel/metal crack tool. Quantities of substances suspected to be Cannabis Sativa and One black polo shirt bearing the inscription “Nigeria Army Barracks Youths Foundation (NABYF)”.
“In a related development, on the same date, 19th June 2026, at about 6:00 pm, operatives of the VCRU acting on intelligence, arrested one Oluchukwu Onyekwe, male, 21 years old at Agukwu Nri, Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State.
“The suspect was found in possession of appreciable quantities of dried weeds suspected to be Cannabis Sativa. Preliminary investigations also linked the suspect to cult-related activities in the area. He remains in custody while further interrogation and investigations continue.
“The Command urges residents to continue supporting the Police with credible and timely information to enhance public safety and security.”
