The Anambra State Police Command has expressed profound grief over the death of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Elaigwu Austin.
The Command in a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga described the late officer as a committed and courageous person whose service, professionalism and dedication to the fight against crime earned him recognition in its security operations.
CSP Elaigwu played a significant role in security operations across Anambra South Senatorial District, where he led a police-led Joint Security Team comprising military personnel and operatives of other security agencies.
Under his leadership, the team undertook coordinated, intelligence-driven operations aimed at disrupting criminal activities, dismantling criminal networks and improving the security situation in the area.
In honour of the late officer and to ensure continuity of ongoing security efforts, the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, on Thursday, October 15, 2026, visited the Joint Security Team in Aguata.
The visit provided an opportunity for the Commissioner to commiserate with personnel over the loss of their colleague, assess ongoing operations and encourage officers and men to remain focused, professional and committed to their responsibilities.
The Commissioner acknowledged the late officer’s contributions to the Command’s security efforts and urged personnel to sustain operational momentum through effective intelligence gathering, inter-agency cooperation and proactive policing.
He emphasised that the loss of a colleague must not weaken the resolve of the security team to protect lives and property and maintain peace across the state.
The visit, according to the Command, further reaffirmed its commitment to supporting personnel in the field, strengthening collaboration among security agencies and sustaining coordinated operations against criminal elements.
The Command extended condolences to the family, colleagues, friends and loved ones of the late CSP, noting that his service and dedication would remain part of its institutional memory.
