Former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, appeared at the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja on Wednesday over fraud allegations amounting to N110 billion.
Bello, who was declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in April 2024, presented himself to the EFCC on Tuesday and was brought to face charges of criminal breach of trust and other related offences.
The case, marked FCT/HC/CR/778/24, involves allegations of financial mismanagement totalling N110,446,470,089.
Bello is charged alongside two co-defendants, Umar Shuaibu Oricha and Abdulsalam Hudu.
The 16-count criminal charges brought against the former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, and two others have been read to the defendants before Justice Maryann Anenih.
They, however, denied all the allegations in the charges, including the fraudulent conversion of N110 billion naira for personal use.
Bello, who is the first defendant in the charges, vehemently denied the allegations as they were read out by the Court Registrar.
