The gang responsible for the murder of two police officers attached to the Counter Terrorism Unit, CTU, at Tranquility hotel, Nung Oku, Ibesikpo Local Government Area of the State have been arrested.
They were arrested by operatives of the Anti-Robbery Section of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command.
Parading the suspects at the command headquarters, Ikot-Akpanabia Uyo, the State capital, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olatoye Durosinmi said the gang had confessed to be notorious for maiming and robbing supermarkets and snatching of vehicles in Uyo.
The suspects arrested include: “Aniekeme John Akwa ‘m’ of Afaha Ikot Obion NKan village, Ibesikpo Asutan LGA, Aniebiet Monday Okon ‘m’ of Afaha Udo-Uyo village, also in Ibesikpo LGA.”
The Commissioner explained that “following a distress call by one Ann Sampson Ogbe ‘f’ that three armed men on board a Toyota Rav 4 invaded her supermarket and robbed her at gunpoint the sum of N130, 000, recharge cards and phone, his men swung into action and arrested the suspects through discreet investigation.”
