Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has declared his support for the second term Presidency of President Muhammadu Buhari come 2019, saying nothing can change his re-election.

Akeredolu who disclosed this during a unification rally held in Akure, the Ondo State capital on Saturday, as part of the activities marking his First year anniversary, said the president remains the country’s best option.

The governor said he is satisfied with the good work of the president since his assumption of office.

At the rally which was attended by the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, the Ogun state governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki, Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Kayode Fayemi , Akeredolu said nothing can change the re-election of the President.

While noting that his support for the President was not a tactics support, the governor said he was one of those Governors that asked the President to come and re- contest.

Akeredolu said, “It is an open support, I am one of the governors that will give everything it takes for him to become the next President in 2019.I am open and frontal about the second term.”

The governor added that, “President Muhammadu Buhari deserves our gratitude for standing by us.  He refused to bend. He has continued to stand with Ondo State people.  The state endorses Buhari for second term in office. Nothing can change that.

He will win the 2019 election.” Akeredolu who said the state remained solidly behind the President, noted that the President has performed well to deserve the re-election.

He said , “They stood by the truth and in standing by the truth, that is why we are here today. We will open a befitting campaign office for the President Buhari and vice president Yemi Osinbajo soon.

So, we are with him at all time. ” Harping on the absence of the national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and other leaders from the rally,  Akeredolu said,
“All leaders of APC supported this programme and those who were not here gave reasons for their absence. And for Instance, Asiwaju Tinubu, he called me this morning that he woke up with a terrible cold.

“I know of two senators in APC in Ondo State, and that is Tayo Alasoadura and Yele Omogunwa. For me, those two have been supportive and I know Yele have other engagement somewhere. Senator Alasoadura have been supportive from beginning to the end. So, those are the two senators I know in APC in Ondo State.”

He however, thanked the people of the state for supporting his administration and promised to work hard for the betterment of the state.

He said, “We have just started and nobody knows the next step in our plan to develop the state because we are not here because of our strength but by the grace of God. ”

Also speaking, the state Acting Chairman of the party Engr. Ade Adetimehin described the primary election that returned Akeredolu as the gubernatorial candidate of the party in 2016 as free, fair and credible.

Adetimehin said the acrimony and anti party activities that attended the exercise were ill-conceived and unwarranted.
