Air Component of Joint Task Force, North East, Operation Hadin Kai, has neutralised over 40 Islamic State West Africa Province, ISWAP, terrorists, including prominent commander, in precision air strike at Badu Village, south of Gudumbali in Guzamala Local Government Area of Borno State.
Operation was carried out on October 10, 2026, following credible intelligence on concentration of ISWAP fighters planning coordinated attacks on troops in Sector 3 areas of responsibility.
Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force, North East, Operation Hadin Kai, Captain Mohammed Goni, disclosed this in statement issued in Maiduguri on October 12, 2026.
According to statement, Air Component conducted targeted aerial surveillance, identified terrorist movements around suspected hideouts and logistics facilities, and executed precision strike on building occupied by terrorists.
Preliminary battle damage assessment indicates that over 40 terrorists, including prominent ISWAP Qaid, were neutralised. Two vehicles and about 20 motorcycles used for mobility and logistics were also destroyed.
Intelligence further revealed that terrorists belonged to ISWAP’s Murabitun element, specialised mobile fighting unit responsible for patrols and coordinating attacks within general area.
Goni said destruction of enclave and operational assets represents significant setback to group’s capacity to launch attacks and sustain activities in Lake Chad region, adding that assessment is ongoing to ascertain full extent of damage.
He said operation underscores effectiveness of intelligence-led and coordinated air operations in dismantling terrorist networks and denying criminal elements freedom of action.
Joint Task Force, he added, remains resolute in sustaining air and ground operations to eliminate terrorist threats and restore lasting peace in North East.
