The Court of Arbitration for Sport, CAS, has scheduled October 8, 2026, for hearing of Senegal’s appeal against decision that awarded 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title to Morocco.
Dispute involves Senegalese Football Federation, FSF, Confederation of African Football, CAF, and Royal Moroccan Football Federation, FRMF. Senegal is challenging CAF’s decision to declare team to have forfeited final and record match as 3-0 victory for Morocco.
Controversy dates back to AFCON final played in Rabat on January 18, 2026. Senegal initially won 1-0 after extra time, but CAF Appeal Board later ruled Senegal had forfeited match following team’s temporary walk-off in protest over penalty awarded to Morocco. Board subsequently recorded result as 3-0 in Morocco’s favour.
Senegal appealed to CAS seeking to overturn CAF ruling and have original result reinstated. Hearing will take place behind closed doors at CAS headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland.
CAS clarified Oct 8 hearing will not produce immediate ruling. After arguments, panel will begin deliberations, with final decision date yet to be announced.
