….Governor Orders Vacation of Parks, Directs Police to Arrest Killers
Olalekan Ajagungbade, a political ally of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, has been shot dead in Ile-Ife.
Ajagungbade, popularly known as “Emir” in political circles, was reportedly lured to a motor park in Ile-Ife for a meeting. He was shot in the head on arrival.
Sources said the deceased was attempting to take control of motor parks in the state from the current leader of commercial drivers, Nurudeen Alowonle.
The killing sparked tension in parts of the state.
In response, Governor Adeleke directed the Osun State Police Command to track and arrest all those involved in the killing.
In a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor ordered the immediate vacation of motor parks by warring groups and directed the establishment of a Park Management System with immediate effect.
Adeleke called for calm and directed security agencies to restore normalcy in motor parks and maintain law and order across the state.
He also promised to issue an Executive Order for the establishment of the park management system to restore discipline and orderliness.
