Former Senate President Abubakar Saraki has called on leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party to “let sleeping dogs lie” by accepting the Court of Appeal ruling that nullified the Ibadan national convention.
Saraki, through his media office, stressed that continued litigation could jeopardize the party’s readiness for the 2027 general elections. He urged leaders to focus on dialogue, consensus-building, and accommodating all interests during the election of officers.
He emphasized that the party’s priority should be providing a platform for members to contest elections, warning that personal egos and disputes could undermine grassroots aspirations.
“We should let the sleeping dog lie peacefully. There is really no time for continuous bickering and grandstanding,” Saraki said.
His call comes after the Turaki-led faction of the PDP directed its legal team to appeal the appellate court’s decision at the Supreme Court.
