Four teenagers of the Kuramo Senior College in Lagos have drowned in the Elegushi bar beach in Lagos State.
Eight of the students had reportedly visited their school to collect their recently released West African Examination Council (WAEC) results.
It was said that shortly after collecting their result, they decided to go to the beach along with one of their other friend.
Nine of them entered the beach but sadly, four of them, two males and two females drowned.
Three others fled the scene while two others aged 14 and 16 waited until the police came.
They were able to provide the names of the victims.
The Lagos State Police command confirmed the incident in a post shared by the Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin on his verified Twitter page.
Hundeyin said that the teenagers drowned at the beach on Tuesday after receiving their examination results.
He advised parents and guardians to guard their children to avoid such incidents.
His tweet read: “I’ve talked about drowning in relation to water travel and swimming pools. Still, parents/guardians, have a heart-to-heart talk with your teenagers to avoid losing them.
“Four teenagers drowned at a Lagos beach after collecting their exam results in school. Take heed!”
